Complex projects work better when teams work as one
Prime brings five integrated divisions together under one accountable team across Australia and New Zealand. Here's why that matters on technically complex projects.
Author: Prime
Prime is trusted to deliver critical data centre projects in technically complex construction developments across Australia and New Zealand. That work rarely sits within one trade. Power, communications, water, security and building technology all have to come together, on programme, in the same building.
Five divisions. One delivery team.
Prime is a family business, owned and run since 1987, that brings five integrated divisions together under one accountable team:
- Electrical & Communications: critical power, data and communications infrastructure designed for reliability and scale
- Hydraulics: cooling water, fire hydraulics, sanitary, stormwater, leak detection and commercial plumbing
- Technology: connected technology and audiovisual systems that improve control, collaboration and performance
- Security: integrated systems that protect people, assets and critical operations
- Maintenance: from 24/7 callouts to preventative maintenance, keeping critical systems running
Two countries. Five integrated divisions. 550+ experts. More than 3,500 projects delivered.
Why integration has to start early
On a complex project, building systems are either designed to work together from the start or forced to work together at the end. Leaving integration until the end often brings rework, added cost and pressure on the programme. Prime’s in-house modelling and engineering coordination happens before installation, not during it.
When the people designing, installing and commissioning each system sit within one team, coordination happens at design stage. Issues are found on drawings rather than on site, and commissioning is planned alongside installation instead of after it.
What that looks like in practice
In a commercial smart building, technology, AV, security and communications need to perform as one system. Prime’s teams have delivered across PCA A-grade commercial towers, AV and video conferencing fitouts, and secure government and institutional facilities. Across that work, the common thread is early coordination between the people responsible for each system.
In a data centre, the stakes are higher. Every system has to be documented, tested and commissioned to the client’s requirements, often while interfacing with live infrastructure. One team carrying the full scope means one line of accountability, from cost planning and design coordination through to final commissioning.
What it means for builders, operators and developers
One contract. One team. One point of accountability. For builders, operators and developers, that means fewer interfaces to manage, better coordination, programme certainty, and experienced people focused on getting the job done.
